After becoming a part of the CMA CGM Group in 2016, APL continues to receive recognition for our service and operational excellence. In September, APL was named Operator of the Year at the Lloyd’s List Asia Pacific Awards 2018.

Since July 2018, APL has embarked on LIFT, a project to leverage the best of IT systems and resources within our larger Group, in order to better serve our customers’ business needs. Your APL experience is now LIFTed off across all APL services and platforms, with:

APL eBusiness will replace HomePort permanently after a transition period.

PLEASE NOTE
  1. To speed up your booking confirmation process, please ensure to provide the following when placing a booking:
    • The cargo’s HS code (Harmonized System code, also known as HTS code). To obtain the HS Code for your cargo, you could click here to visit the Harmonized Tariff Schedule site set up by the U.S. International Trade Commission.
    • Quotation or contract number
      Your existing contract number will take on a new format in our new system. Obtain your new contract number by entering your current number in the query tool near the top of this page
  2. Progressively, for shipments processed in our new system, APL will cease transmission of all data via fax.

Progressively, bookings made in our new system will generate Booking Confirmation (BC) in a new template. Information on the new templates is:

  • More comprehensive than the current version
  • Customized according to the specific needs in every country

Easy submission and management of Shipping Instructions on APL eBusiness

For shipments processed in our new system, use the new eBusiness platform to submit Shipping Instructions (SI) and enjoy the following benefits:

  2. To make amendments to your shipment manifest, please provide a Letter of Intent (LOI) before APL is able to execute the change

With the new eBusiness platform, SOLAS compliance has never been so efficient:

As a one-stop platform for all your shipping needs, the new eBusiness platform allows you to manage your Bills of Lading (BL) with minimum effort.

  • View and print your Original BL and Seaway Bill
  • View and correct your BL Draft online
  • Option for mass review and approval of multiple BL Draft

Progressively, Bill of Lading (BL) generated from bookings processed in our new system will no longer carry freight charges (except U.S., Peru, Ecuador, Panama and Nicaragua). A separate invoice will be provided for billing purpose.

With the new BL template, there will be:

  • Cleaner layout due to exclusion of freight charges
  • No limit to the number of containers per BL
PLEASE NOTE
  1. For BLs in the new template: if you are printing Original BLs, please use only the new BL paper. If you are printing Sea Way Bills, please print on plain paper only. Click here for more information.
  2. BL split numbers now come with a suffix a, b, c and so on. Please take note of this when submitting the BL split numbers with your Shipping Instructions (SI).

Track your shipment with ease and speed via APL eBusiness

For bookings processed in our new system, track your shipments with ease and speed via the new eBusiness platform via any of the following, three at a time:

  • Booking Confirmation number
  • Bill of Lading (BL) number
  • Container number
PLEASE NOTE
  1. Email tracking will not be available going forward.
  2. Progressively, voyage numbering convention will be different from the existing ones on all relevant documents. Please take note and continue to use the voyage numbers with the new numbering convention for all relevant processes.

With an APL eBusiness account, simply enable notifications to receive real-time updates on:

  • Changes to vessel arrival and departure dates (ETA/ ETD)
  • Booking and document status
  • Other updates to your shipments

Any party to the shipment can choose to be notified

PLEASE NOTE
The above will be the only way to receive alerts on ETA/ ETD changes going forward.

 

Steps to enable notifications in APL eBusiness:

Step 1: Upon signing in to APL eBusiness, click on Account Management, then Notification Setup

New contract numbering format

With the progressive migration of existing contracts to our new system, your contract number will take on a new format.

Use the conversion tool near the top of this page to help identify the new contract numbers based on existing ones. Where available, please reference the new number when making a booking.

For ease of application and processing, credit terms will be simplified to:

  • One credit term for export freight

Easy search for local charges and inland prices on APL eBusiness

The following tools are now available on the new eBusiness platform

Steps to enable notifications in APL eBusiness:

Please note that the self-service portal on HomePort to add, update and view Delivery Orders (DO) for customers based in the U.S. will not be available once the transition from HomePort to APL eBusiness completes. Your dedicated local Customer Service Representative will assist you via email for all DO-related tasks.
Separate invoice provided on top of Bill of Lading and pre-NOA (except U.S., Peru, Ecuador, Panama and Nicaragua)

Progressively, a separate invoice will be generated for your shipment -- on top of the Bill of Lading (BL) and pre-Notice of Arrival (NOA). The BL and NOA will no longer carry freights (except U.S., Peru, Ecuador, Panama and Nicaragua).

PLEASE NOTE
  1. Please ensure to make payment based only on the invoice and credit note/debit note.
  2. Do pay attention to your invoice and only make payment to APL for invoices with APL logo.

Detention & Demurrage invoices will no longer show LFD (Last Free Date). New invoice format will continue to show:

  • the number of free days available before D & D charges take effect
  • the Start / End Chargeable dates in From Date / To Date columns

Progressively, Bills of Lading (BL) will not be sent with Statements of Account (SOA) for new bookings. Please log on to APL eBusiness to print your BL.

First log-in to HomePort/APL eBusiness from 16 July onwards

For HomePort users with an existing CMA CGM eBusiness account: You will be able to access APL eBusiness directly using your current CMA CGM eBusiness email ID and password.

For HomePort users without an existing CMA CGM eBusiness account: Click on “Forgotten Password” and within minutes, you should receive a verification code for you to reset your password via the email address registered in your “My Profile” settings in HomePort. Note that the same email address is also your new login ID.

During the transition period from HomePort to the new eBusiness platform, both systems will co-exist temporarily to enable the progressive migration of voyage data.

As such, you may be directed to either platforms to make your bookings, depending on the service. You would also need to manage all relevant processes (eg documentation and tracking) for such bookings on the same platform. Please be assured that the platform switch between HomePort and APL eBusiness will be intuitive and smooth.

Booking Number Upon booking submission, you will receive your actual booking number as a single reference. You will first receive a reference number for your submitted booking. Upon booking confirmation, you will receive another booking number.
Shipment and document management Manage your shipment and documents forvoyages booked in APL eBusiness. Manage your shipment and documents for voyages booked in HomePort.
Document templates For voyages booked in APL eBusiness, you will receive Booking Confirmation, Bill of Lading (BL), Notice of Arrival, invoice and all other documents in new APL templates. For voyages booked in HomePort, you will receive Booking Confirmation, Bill of Lading (BL), Notice of Arrival and all other documents in current APL templates.
Printing of Original BL
  • Print on new OBL blank form paper (check with your local Customer Service representative)
  • A second set of OBL can be printed once local APL office has been informed of this request. The serial numbers on the OBL blank form paper that had been used in initial print will have to be relayed to the local agency.
